Backbeat Maze Artist's Book - Drum Kit Music Maze - Kick, Snare and Drop

Backbeat Maze Artist's BookLife and music have drum-like rhythms.
Sometimes fast, other times slow.
Artist ProcessThe idea took a few days to manifest. I was thinking it would be cool to make the book interactive by putting in a maze. 
The idea for the kick drum, snare, build up and drop came last minute on the day of completion. (Sudden Discovery)
The idea to angle the maze slightly was also a last-minute decision. (Sudden Discovery)
I cut out the maze using a utility knife.  
The bookbinding was using a shoelace string and a large bead. I used a nail to poke holes through the paper. 
The bead was removable from the shoelace and used as a small ball for the maze.
The right inside cover had my signature towards the center and the word drop in the lower center. 
When the ball would reach the end of the maze, I would turn the page, and the ball would drop.

Hello all, well, it looks like its time to move things around and increase the workspace area. 
The goal is to break the area into two parts. The first part will be for taking photos and staging.
The second area will be for artworks and creating videos.

On/Off Artist's BookIn the music world and in life, there are many on/off switches. 
Unfortunately, sometimes things don't always line-up smoothly. 
Other times, everything lines up nicely. 

Artist ProcessThe On/Off Artist's book was a fun project. I was exploring through ideas by folding one piece of 11 x 15-inch paper used for watercolor. 
I cut out a square piece in the top right corner for no reason other than to practice cutting with a utility blade. 
It was late at night, and I decided to sleep and take a look at things in the morning. (Isolation)
Discovery ideas started arising in the morning when I was thinking of the lettering. (Sudden Discovery)
I decided to fold one more piece of paper the same size and place it in the partially cut paper.

Creating music is an exciting process, there are many vibrations of sound mixing through the air. 
Overthinking and music can be a rivalry.
One wins over the other.

Photos of a tiny artist's book made around the topic of music creation. 
Artist Process The Bonne Musique Tiny Artist's Book was the result of an iteration from a book I was thinking about making the night before. 
The idea came last minute in the following morning from doing a full-size artist book to a tiny artist's book. (Sudden discovery)
After creating the On/Off Artist's book, I had some scrap paper leftover from the project. 
From the scrap paper, I created the tiny artist's book. 
This particular artist's book was the most difficult so far.
I discovered writing tiny letters was challenging.

DIY Wooden Book Press using Kitchen Cutting Boards

DIY Wooden Book Press Materials 2 x Cutting boards 11" x 17"  4 x Carriage Bolts - 5/16 inch - 18  4 x Fluted Knobs - Thru-Hole 5/16 - 18  4 x Bumpers  4 x Flat washers  1 x Drill  1 x Drill Bit 5/16 inch or larger 1 x ruler, 18 inches or more 1 x pencil  1 x Hole puncher  1 x Handle  1 x Screwdriver  4 x Small Screws


Find a safe area to work, and may sure you follow proper safety procedures. 

DIY Wooden Book Press Directions  Place both cutting boards on top of each other with the flat sides (no grooves) facing each other. I made the mistake of not having both flat ends facing each other, and I had to flip the board over after drilling, misaligning the holes. I talk more about this in the video below.  



Measure four holes evenly towards the cutting boards' corners, keep a good enough distance from the board's edges. There are about 13 inches of distance between the two carriage bolts lengthwise in the video above, and just over 8 inches width wise.

Cassettes are just one of those forms. 
The period of the cassette tape was limited, but the memories they hold are endless. 
Long live auto-reverse and rewind.

Artist ProcessI remember the cassette tape artist's book idea was in transition from my sole typography art into artists' books. 
The discovery of the idea came to me in the late evening in my room. (Distraction)
The first step was to find a pure black cassette tape in my house with no writing and able to be taken apart via screws. 
I ended up finding two large clear containers with cassettes and brought them over to my kitchen.
I started sifting through each cassette, hoping to find a pure black tape. I was literally on the last ten cassettes before I found one with no writing with screws.
